Virtualization allows resources to be dynamically shared and reassigned to software executing above the virtualization layer.  It allows large numbers of machines to be combined into a giant resource pool and improves hardware utilization.  Virtualization also makes computer system management more efficient.

This topic covers the various applications of virtualization towards saving energy and money.
